The still image allows us to stare into someones eyes without blinking--long enough to confront our own prejudice. And yet photography is a farce as we can only inhabit one fleeting expression at a time. I'm invested in challenging visual expectations in a world that seems too intent on simplification.

My lens often follows my curiosities and the aspects of life I cannot comprehend. From the slums of Manila, to the clubhouses of California motorcycle clubs, my documentary work has taken me into urban poor communities and subcultures around the world.
